Fighting Irish's Garage

Postby Fightingirishcmk » Mon Jan 18, 2010 10:29 pm

Just thought I'd share a few photos of the Aveo. It's a 2007 LS with 36k. Still looks brand new for the most part. Fairly boring and straight forward, just tinted windows and partially debadged. All of the pics are from my iPhone, so I apologize fo the quality.

This is from when I waxed it this past summer. Meguiar's NXT 2.0 wax. Lasts a good 3 months or so and looks great.

And just a few pictures of the newest ride in my garage... a 2009 Honda Fit. I know, I know, it's a Honda. But it's actually my fiancee's. We just bought it back in November.

Yeah, I just washed both this past weekend... wish we could take the cars out for a good photoshoot, but I don't have any time during daylight hours anymore (doing surgery rotations right now). Taken in our garage... tandem garages are weird.

Only real plans for my ride are suspension related (lowering springs or coilovers). Plans for the Fit are about the same, maybe get some OEM wheels for it. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks guys. Yeah, I've been a little too busy lately to post much, and completely broke. Getting married in less than two weeks, hopefully I'll have a bit more money after that to do some mods (esp. rabbit's coilovers).

Just hit the 40k mile mark this past week. Also hit the 2.5 year mark! Still on my first set of tires, getting some new ones in the next 1000 miles though.

Unscheduled service stops: 1- ECM TSB and downstream O2 sensor replacement after CEL @ 34k miles
Number of times left stranded: 0

Total costs for everything:

Insurance: $3600
Total Car payments (so far): $6730
Gas: $3584
Oil Changes: $225 (full syn, premium filter)
Spark Plugs: $30
Air Filter:$45 (K&N)
Miscellaneous (car was/wax): $100
Speeding Ticket + class: $289
Tolls: $150

Grand Total: $14,753
Cost per mile: $0.37
Avg MPG over 40k miles: 32
Best MPG: 37.2
Worst MPG (after break in @10k miles): 28.0

Yahoo estimates that the 5 year total cost to own is $31,987 and a cost per mile of $0.42. I'm at 2.5 years and almost halfway to their total projected cost. For some reason, I thought I would be doing a lot better than that.

Now on to some newer pictures of my garage. Gotta say the aveo looks almost as it did 2.5 years ago. Only real wear is a few rock chips on the front bumper and hood. The iphone camera is really starting to show its age, but whatever. It seems like whenever I get time to wash both rides, its nighttime and I have no energy to go out and do a shoot.

i like you calculations, if i had the patience to keep track i would figure it out.

right now i just look at the cost of the car and gas: $10500 + @$.10 mile.. at 23000 miles i am under $.50 a mile i only pay $38 a month for full coverage..
