its actually there to stop the clogging of your fan and to also charge your money but since they are rarely changed they cause overheating of the fan motor thus destroying it anyway

I've had a gmc truck with and one without one. I drive on a lot of dirt roads. It makes a HUGE difference in the amount of dust in the vehichle and I will tell you now the truck without the filter smells like a dirt clod. For people who work construction or ag the filters make a huge difference.
seriously, though. is there a cabin filter for the 2010? my vents are smelling funky and i want to start with getting a new filter.
I haven't had an Aveo for awhile, but the figure's appear to have one in about the same location. Remove your glove box and find your Blower. It should be right before it. I changed mine twice in my first gen, definitely help out haha.
thanks a bunch. I definitely need to find it.
Not the same!! I have an '11 and the box there is solid there is no slot for removal!!
The DD: 2011 Aveo5 LT
The Race Car: 2004 Pontiac GTO 383 Stroker
the Slot is there, you just have to cut it out, (the Filter guides in the HVAC Housing are already there) Stuff a Filter in it, and either Find the Filter Cover in a Salvage Yard, or Convince your Dealer to try to sell you one. I did it to Scoots, and my interior is A LOT less dusty!
here's a picture of my own HVAC Housing after I installed the Air Filter door, all I really had to do was cut the opening out, find the Cover (which I found thanks to a '07 at Pullapart), buy a Filter, and Hey Presto: Cabin Air Filter!
it doesn't come with a filter!? that's messed up! guess I can't complain though, it looks like an easy fix. thanks a lot for all the help.
