Re: Forged rods for 1.6L engines
If I remember correctly the X16XEV had slightly higher compression at 10.5:1 but other than that I belive everything is a go. The Wiseco pistons come in... 8.8:1 for turbo 10.5:1 for standard 11:1 for more power 12.5 for extreme all motor Looks like the main difference between the Z16LET pistons and...

Forged rods for 1.6L engines
http://www.importperformanceparts.net/ Go in under the Vauxhall or Opel applications, click on connecting rods and then K1Rods The forged rods are $389 per set which is the first "reasonably priced" set for the 1.6L I assume if you go in for the Wiesco forged pistons+ K1 Rods there will be...

Re: 200 Hp Factory Ecotec Engine
Hmm...V6 aveo. sex! lol. i personally would if i had the money but im lookin at either a Z20let or a 2.2l engine and turbo that; less potential but should also be cheaper. Does the v6 drop in though? As with anything there is some work to be done, I'm not entirely sure about the engine mounts as I ...

Re: 200 Hp Factory Ecotec Engine
At the point of converting to rwd i think the engine choice would no longer match an aveo bellhousing. Not sure what you mean, the picture of the RWD transmission bellhousing is an exact match to the 1.6L and 2.0L engines. Perhaps it's just because one is tilted compared to the other, but they are ...

Re: 200 Hp Factory Ecotec Engine
So..... If someone was crazy enough to want to convert to RWD there is an automatic here in north america that fits ..... unfortunately we didn't get a manual Catera but one could allays source a manual RWD gearbox from Europe/UK

Here is the RWD automatic gearbox from a Cadillac Catera so you can see the bolt pattern. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-CADILLAC-CATERA-3-0-V6-AUTOMATIC-TRANSMISSION_W0QQitemZ200400158046QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2ea8c7bd5e#ht_510wt_939 Here is the F16 out ...

Re: 200 Hp Factory Ecotec Engine
There were tons of vehicles where the 2.0L and V6 engines were options depending on the model. The V6 is only 3 cylinders on each bank.... so it's just as compact as the 4 cylinder engine.... might actually be slightly shorter. The Opel Omega ( Cadillac Catera ) was rear wheel drive.... but that who...

Re: Transmissions that can be used with the 1.6???
The best solution to swap from Auto to Manual with a turbo engine is the six speed Getrag M32 from the Opel/Vauxhall VXR models Why you ask??? Simple.... it's a cable driven shifter so it requires next to zero work to get it functional.... you just need to drill two holes for the cables to go though...

Re: 200 Hp Factory Ecotec Engine
Oh...... the 2.5L, 2.8L , 3.0L V6 engines..... some of which are found here in north america will also fit into the Kalos chassis. Personally I'd stick to the 4 cyl turbo cars.......... but for great "factory" power and torque a Cadillac Catera ( Opel Omega ) 3.0L V6 will make the Aveo cha...

Re: 200 Hp Factory Ecotec Engine
I really don't know why people keep coming back to using Aluminum ECOTEC engines in the place of Iron ECOTEC engines..... it is just as much trouble to drop in a Mazdaspeed 3 direct injection 2.3 Turbo that makes 265hp and 300 lbft of torque. Sometimes I just don't get it.... there are dozens of Iro...
