need to buy a switch though.

also did you check to see if the bulb was installed in your cluster for the cruise light?

I didn't take the cluster apart...I'll look through the schematics some more before I dig in that deep.

PICS

Postby wylee » Fri Aug 13, 2010 4:06 pm

I bought connectors from NAPA, part numbers 725187 and 725188. I got 2 female for the switch end and 2 male that clipped into the clockspring connector. I didn't take any pictures before (the red and black wires are the ones I put in with the snap-in connectors) I made the connection, but here is where it is and what it looks like on my 2010. The red wire is connected to the brown cruise wire and the black wire is connected to the gray cruise wire.

I ended up putting the Rostra cruise in anyway because I couldn't find a place where I was comfortable with stuffing the 06 switch. I also gave up on the idea of factory cruise or making my own switch. I'm pretty sure factory cruise would require the 2010 switch, the clockspring, AND a new steering wheel. Although there are knockouts in the LS steering wheel, the is no structure under the knockouts to attach the switch.

I circled the gray wire is this pic since it is not showing up very well with the camera flash.

Not for long. I hooked it up temporarily to make sure it worked but I could not find a place to mount it where it would stay securely and not be in the way or get accidently turned on.

Yes, just 2 wires. Pins 1 & 4 of the switch need to be connected to the gray & brown wires.

The plastic panel does just pull off. Sounds easy but the clips are a shitty design, just like the trim around the radio; I thought sure I was going to break something. A couple of the clips did bend pretty badly, but it went back together okay.

If you are going to use scotch locks or wire taps, there is no need to pull the knee panel. You can reach up there and unplug it. The clockspring side is what's clipped in place. I pulled the knee panel because I wanted access to the clock spring plug to put my Napa connectors into....and to take pictures.

I can send ya my switch with the connectors for $20 shipped if ya want it. I did drill a couple holes in the back for my attempt at zip tie mounting.
