My EastCoast CannonBall run / Endurance test complete.

When I started the journey, the temps were in the 70's at @ 50 ft above sea level.
I then took the car from -6 below sea level to +2800 feet then back down to 200 ft and freezing cold temps with 100% humidity. Seemed like the computer was struggling to readjust, but after a few minutes it caught up.

yeah, that might be it, discounting the battery for a few would solve it too

disconnecting the battery isn't a fix all, it resets the computer, but it then has to "relearn"

running it for 3 cycles without the problem eliminates the light too. any is the proper way to do it without a scanner.

new emissions tested nulls disconnecting the battery too. because you need 3 successful full closed loop cycles to set readiness for emissions. which you delete by disconnecting the battery. newer systems and scanners can even tell when the last time you reset the computer.
