Yes u need to install the 2.0 ecu, the engine will run with the 1.6's ecu but will cause the engine to ping when you give it gas. After a while it will damage the motor (this is what probly destroyed my 1st 2.0 motor)

Re: Aveo 0 to 60 spec
I found a 2.4l Cobalt motor fairly close to me for fairly cheap...Whats the difference with the 2.0 and 2.4....
I'm not gonna do anything for a while. I'm still under 1k miles.
but its fun to think about.

If your going to do an engin swop, I'd go for the 2.4L. You will be able to mod the hell out of it and get more HP then you can even understand. There's one here in Waterloo that has over 1000 hp and its all Chevy parts...... sick
They put it together at Schlueter's Chevy & Hummer.

you will want the whole drivetrain. trust me, i have been looking into this.
Re: Aveo 0 to 60 spec
A full power train swop, yes, yes
The 2.4 L I was talking about is a Cobalt SS.

Re: Aveo 0 to 60 spec
yeah, i am holing out for the 09 turbo though, but if this engine get "tired" and i haven't found one, then i will go ahead with a supercharged engine.
the turbo version has SO much more potential. plus i could stay within manufacturing requirement for emissions (need to swap for something the same year or newer.

Re: Aveo 0 to 60 spec
i still dont think GM wil come out with an aveo that is tubro charged from the factory, it will end up costing way too much, though maybe some of the biased import shit will go away. I would love to see GM make one though, the colbalt was a success, and the aveo has been too all over the world, i just wish GM perfomance department would focus on the aveo for a week or too insted of making a new perfoamance engine for the corvette every other day

R&D is expensive, if they can not sell enough of them to make it an "affordable" option they wont do it. look ate the package costs of the SS models..
