Do we need the HID relay kit on our cars if the DRLs are disconnected, I'm tinting a set of taillights for a Grand Cherokee in trade for a new kit and he's not sure if it comes with it, Can't beat it 6k and 8k bulbs so I can pick his cost is $55

what is the description of what the relays do? relay kits are typically for older cars that dont have a factory relay, and the headlight wires actually run through the switch..

You dont need a relay, just get a H4 kit, which is bi-xenon because both low and high beams are in the same bulb.

Simply plug them directly into the factory harness but make sure your DRL's are disconnected else they dont supply enough power to the ballast, it will make the bulbs flicker very fast and they will get damaged.

If you want to use DRL's with HID's you need to get a special relay that gets extra power directly from the battery whenever DRL's are in use. IMO just turn on your lights the normal way if you need them and leave your DRL's disconnected.

+1 That's what I do. It's easier for us with the 09's to disconnect the DRLs. We just have to pull a fuse on the side of the dash in the fuse panel.

here in nova scotia DRL are mandatory, and cars that are not equipped with DRL are required to have their headlights on at all time

turn the adjustment screws on the headlight? sure they are wired up as high low correctly?

hids are really bright, thats why most of the retrofit kits are offroad use only, becayse the beam pattern blinds other cars.. bla bla blah.

thats what got the debate going on many times.
