Well, you could get another Aveo. I see them all the time for that price.

Otherwise, I think you can get the best deal buying from a private seller. Something nice, been owned by respecatble people , and with all paperwork and service records present.

That being said, If your going in with all cash, you have some decent leverage, so maybe buy something from the used department of a big dealership you might want to continue doing business down the road.?

Maybe luck will steer you something sporty, easy to mod, and yet very reliable.

i would avoid auctions on repos, look on the local craigslist and on ebay, just watch what you buy, you dont want anything that will need major work a few months after you buy it

I've owned a lot of Cars but my taste in cars is kind of perverse compared to commoners.

I like go cart type handling cars more than these performance cars that have so much luxury you don't actually feel the road. But I have owned a few luxury peelrformance cars.

Best advice I can give when buying used, never spend your full budget on the car. Keep/ plan enough money for new brakes, tires, and such. More money if you want rims suspension etc
added too.

I would think a $5000 base Subaru or something would be terrific with @ $2000 in upgrades

but me personally I would go with another aveo, if not awd is a must! So much fun
