Went to dragstrip tonight

Postby Nemasys » Thu Apr 29, 2010 10:13 pm

So many nice cars and fast ones too, there was an eclipse that beat the new Nissan GTR he was running in the 11's while the GTR was running consistent 12's all night long.

I only managed to run once with all the people there. 16.939 at 80.7mph was the time with a 0.886 reaction off the line.

I was hoping for 16.5 but the track is pretty slippery off the line, I let it go at 4500 rpm and it climbed to 6000 and stayed there until the tires gripped then i had to shift 2nd right away. 1st gear was almost useless as it spun the whole time.

Let's see if i can get into the 14's with the turbo lol

I think that is decent considering my almost blocked cat, restrictive 1.6 exhaust and running on winter tires.

The track is pretty good just the launch is hard to get grip, they dont use any glue or adhesive on the surface, also with winter tires, traction is further reduced.

My friend's Mazda 3 GT runs low 16's and he has a 2.5 inch catback and full cold air intake so 16.9 with the setup i have is ok for me. You have to remember at 2400+ pounds, this is a fairly heavy car for its size so it takes a little more to get it going.

thats doesnt sound to bad for your elevation/temp probabilities, Hunter lives at what 2 ft above sea level?

with your set up you could probably pick up a 1/1oth or 2 with slicks, or just better tires, and then opening up the exhaust when you do the turbo will definitely be a big improvement.

lol true, you still got a lot of work to do before you touch that turbo

weight wise i wonder how much weight could be lost, like the back seat, any guesses?

backseat probably 40-50lbs... another 30 would be the spare tire and jack. But the rear seat acts as a rear bar. So the rear will flex a little more in corners and uneven roads.

almost 100 easy pounds, maybe that rear bar in the back could help offset the loss of the seat

what tire pressure were you using anyways?

Yeah, I've been debating pulling my backseat...I never use it, and if I keep it in much longer I'm just gonna get it dirty. I may wrap it up in plastic and store it in my shed and put the Ultra Racing rear bar in it's place. Idk, I've been thinking of fabbing up my own though that's a little stronger and more rigid.

The rear bar was probably developed so you can take the rear seat out in my mind. Who would have that seat in place when racing?
