eh, i just went to look and the got rid of the bare car, the premium equipment comes standard now for just under 23k

You guys dont seem to understand how hard its gonna be to put in an ecotec engine in this car.

You cant simply buy a motor and gearbox and expect it to drop in and work, you will need custom engine and transmission mounts, an ECU plus the entire wiring harness, custom axels and hubs, you will need custom gauges, a return fuel system if those cars are return, not to mention if there is enough room for that big 2.4. Alot of things might not work that will require extensive modification for example the shifter linkage and shaft might need to be modified to work, fuel pump maybe, those are only things poping in my head, there could be hundred's of others.

WAYYY too much work for what its worth, when you can simply buy a turn key 2.0 and drop it in then your sure its gonna work cause i did it. The 2.0 can make alot of power if your willing to put a bit of money in to it.

I did work in chassis fabrication, building custom show cars, and components for 10 years.
I have done none basic engine swaps in dozens of cars, this swap isn't going to be drop in, but it is definitely doable.

you also talk about cost, i figure you have about $2000 in your set up, correct? i am figuring i will have about $5000 into mine. And have a stock engine setup just like it came from the factory with 260hp, and a factory Diff. going from there a chip upgrade yields something like 290hp. How much more money will you need into that 2.0 that drops in to get that kind of power, and will it still be a "factory" engine / reliable setup at that point. (those numbers are for the turbo, if i can find one).

A supercharged swap will be marginally cheaper but then equal out in price for the upgrades to get the hp the same..

If I were building a racing Aveo, I’d be looking at the 2.4l supercharged. Chevy supports this engine. Yes, it would require you to make mods, but any major engine swap requires that. No this will not be a weekend project.
If you buy it from the factory complete with the 6 speed you’ll get all the wiring and modual. The sick thing is the motor's under full warranty.

i would be happy with around 200hp, i wouldnt need anything more than that, but if someone bought a totaled colbalt ss, then most of the parts you need would be on that car

I'll take a differnent point of view here just to be different.

If I were to do a build up on an Aveo and was planning on spending 5,000...

I'd weld up a nice cage around a new LS1 set up a tranny and rear differential, and then just set a modified aveo shell over the top. For a kick ass RWD Aveo, nothing could touch. Of course the shifter would probably be near the back seat.

Sort of like the 5.0 Ford Focus.
