DIY Ac install

I was wondering if any one had installed AC to their yet. I have been pricing what i need and got some info about how it is done. One person I talked to said I would not be able to install it. He didn't really say y other than their is no instruction manual. I don't c a big deal about that. He also said their would be some machining. But I thought the car was AC ready so what would need to be machined. He also said if I did install it I got to take it some where and have the computer reprogrammed. Any thoughts?

i cant say about the programming, as i havent turned it on, BUT if you car is ac ready already, you have everything except the switch, the lines and compressor (engine compartment stuff). And you would need a different belt.

i bought everything for my car. have some/a lot of it in place, but have not put the compressor in. Not that hard.
