Coolant fan isnt coming on
Coolant fan isnt coming on
So it's hot 30 here yesterday. in a line the cars temp went past half. So I cranked the heater on and it came back down. I never heard the coolant fan kick in at all. Wheres teh best way to start and try and fix the issue?

Re: Coolant fan isnt coming on
I had a similar issue quite awhile ago. In my situation however the fuse was blown and you could actually feel resistance in the fan motor if you tried to spin it while the car was off.
I had to replace my fan and the applicable fuse.
I would check and make sure the fan spins freely and that the fuses are in the correct locations.

Re: Coolant fan isnt coming on
are you sure the fan was supposed to come on just past half way on the temp gauge?
if you jump the fan wires to the battery and it come on, that is most likely fine, unless its noisy or binds up as mentioned..
then jump past the temp switch to test the whole system, this is actually easier, do it first. if that doesnt do it then check the relay and fan itself.. those are the three main parts to most cooling circuits.
