Well i already have the 2.0L U20SED in mine, and that made quite the difference, i couldnt imagine it being turboed or slightly modified, it would surprise alot of ppl on the road. But i didnt know the Catera's engine fit, that would be awesome, i wonder how much work it would take to drop it in.

I need a 2nd job lol

The catera is an Opel Omega thats been rebadged, so it basically sports the same family of drivetrain we do.

There were tons of vehicles where the 2.0L and V6 engines were options depending on the model.

The V6 is only 3 cylinders on each bank.... so it's just as compact as the 4 cylinder engine.... might actually be slightly shorter.

The Opel Omega ( Cadillac Catera ) was rear wheel drive.... but that whole generation of V6 engines 2.5L to 3.2L would fit on the Aveo gearbox.

here is a picture of a 3.0L Catera engine

Oh...... how about this one that I forgot to mention.......many of the Saab engines also work with the F16/F20 gearbox..... so it's possible to drop in a Saab engine as well.

Here is the RWD automatic gearbox from a Cadillac Catera so you can see the bolt pattern.

So..... If someone was crazy enough to want to convert to RWD there is an automatic here in north america that fits ..... unfortunately we didn't get a manual Catera but one could allays source a manual RWD gearbox from Europe/UK

At the point of converting to rwd i think the engine choice would no longer match an aveo bellhousing.

Hmm...V6 aveo. sex! lol. i personally would if i had the money but im lookin at either a Z20let or a 2.2l engine and turbo that; less potential but should also be cheaper. Does the v6 drop in though?
