Gasoline smell in cabin of aveo5

Postby nickmnusa » Sat Oct 17, 2009 12:44 am

hey guys recently changed the plugs on my 08 aveo5 car has 35,000 miles on it. Since then ive noticed a smell of raw fuel in the cab when I come to a complete stop and sit at a light etc. It has gotten cooler around here lately (Minnesota) so expect it to run a little rich when cold but this happens after car is warmed up. Anyways wondering if anyone has had this experience also? Its going to the dealer to get repaired monday along with a bumper to bumper check before my 36000 miles comes along. Thanks in advance Nick

That's not good, are your plugs gapped correctly? Check the fuel inlet line at the throttle-body, make sure it's not leaking. Other than that Idk.

i cant say how the two would be related because if the plugs weren't firing you would get a check engine light, and the gas smell ould go out the exhuast and burn in the manifold and destroy your cat...

but i can see if you push and injector or something and not the o ring is leaking..?

take it in.

pull the wheel off the passenger side rear and check the condition of the hoses inside the wheel well.

could be an unrelated spill smell (for example you stepped in gas at a gas station and transferred it to your carpet)

keep us updated.

there are ways to track a leak if you want to go that far.
