i have had this conversation before. find a "complete" car to take everything out of, so you dont miss one crucial piece.

i did make a list several times though.

Omg, just trade your's for a manual transmission Aveo, and spend your free time driving the thing and enjoying life. Should be able to trade for one with less miles since an Auto is usually in higher demand.

Unless the body is irreplaceably customized...how are you justifying all the headaches and time you could be spending actually enjoying life?

Really though, I don't want to seem so harsh, I do understand the need to tinker. You'll know your car that much better when your done.. And you know the cars history too, so thats a plus.
Just seem's like these cars are 2 new and plentiful. Tranny sways are good for like classic cars where the bodies are far and few between, and there's no other way...

Lanos tranny is still a D16 and would work, but you would need the aveo tranny mounts among other little pieces. Personally I would try to trade for a manual as well, so much less work. I just posted a cheap aveo for sale in the classifieds section.

i already modified my car further than a trade value. but i myself would do the conversion, i figure it would be about $1000 max in parts (i am sure i could source everything for closer to 600-700) and it would take a weekend to complete. i would probably even go ahead and do the lsd in the tranny and a good clutch at the time. bringing the cost closer to $2000..

you would probably lose 2000 on any trade deal or refinancing. but doing the swap would allow you to also have lsd and a performance clutch.

you could also just go ahead and swap a f20 or 6 speed in. 6 speed would be same amount of work, more money, but then "one of a kind" for you work.--

in 2 years or so i will be selling my complete drivetrain including the manual swap.
