engine swaps

hi there im new to the form but had my chevy kalos for over a year now done a few minor mods to the car but now im looking into something larger in the form of an engine swap, now i have been reading through the forum and from what iv seen there have been a couple of 2L drop ins and a fair few turbos. what i was wondering what what engine would be best (cheepest for the most amount of power without going silly). now im not looking for anything turbo as in the uk turbo = alot of incurance money swapsies = expensive but cheeper than turbo. so i was wondering if anyone had any surgestions on what i could dropin any rough prices and power i could get out of the engine. preferably i would like to keep the swap as simple as possible as i know enough people who are more thanwillingto help do the swap as long as no major alterations to the engine bay it's self are needed. so yeah any surgestions please
