epa estimates are bs:

The city and highway tests are currently performed under mild climate conditions (75 degrees F) and use acceleration rates and driving speeds that EPA believes are generally lower than those experienced by drivers in the real world. Neither test is run with the use of accessories, such as air conditioning. The highway test has a top speed of 60 miles per hour, and an average speed of only 48 miles per hour.

if you drove 48 miles per hour average on the highway, you would get what they say you will..

On top of all the points Rabbit hit on with us being up in the cold here it can hurt our mileage a little bit. But like I said, if your having a hard time getting up to operating temp, which I imagine you are only doing city driving, cover your radiator. Believe me, it makes all the difference. When it gets up to a constant 25-30*F I take it off.

I will make a rad cover for next winter.
I thought the EPA had changed the way they test in 2008 to make it more relaistic for more people.
I will keep doing readings and hope for a big improvment!

If my research/sources are correct, yes they changed to test. they used to only go up to 55 mph. which gave even higher numbers.

After a good brake in time the gas mileage will get better, but since I put a short ram air in I've had a big jump in gas mileage. I'm getting a good 100k out of my tank more.

I think you are right AveoRob they have been getting better,

most recent reading is 25.3 for 100% city as compared to the first 2 at 19.6 and 21.8

overall average is 23.175 with 94% city driving
