Hi Everyone, I have not posted pictures of the car yet because it is dirty and has been since the day I bought it.
It has been fairly cold here in Winnipeg Canada for the first few weeks of owning the car.
The first 2 MPG (US) readings are:
19.6
21.8
In km/l
8.33
9.27
This still seems fairly bad to me. by averaging all my MPG records for January and Febuary with simular driving on my old 06 aveo I was getting
22.1 MPG or 10.64 km/l vs my current avg 20.7 MPG or 8.8 km/l
I know that is not that much more, but this car is supposed to have a more fuel efficent engine. The only differences in the driving is the trips are shorter. What do you guys think? esspcially you WOLFMAN AK907
Im sure your weather is not that far off from winnipeg latley.

My car did crappy until my first oil change at 500 miles..
are you running it how you drive, or are you buying the break in nonsense...

It's been about a constant -30*F to -20*F for the past few months. It's mostly 65mph all the way from my house to work, so I average about 28-29 mpg (when I'm nice to it) right now due to letting it idle about 15 minutes before I leave. I do much better in the summer. My mileage was terrible for a while when I first got the Aveo. I didn't really start to see my mileage go up until I hit about 3000 miles to be honest. I had the oil changed at 500, then again at 3000, and then at 6000 right before winter hit. I currently only have about 7500 miles on it.

break in nonsense? I think there is a break in period, and driving is such cold temps, the milage will suck. Is it a auto?
The way I drive, I get 24mpg or so, but I drive it very rough and 90+ on the highway with poor tires and bad alignment. The sparkplugs I put in are helping a little I think.
If you wanted, I would put in some NGK's and change the oil to sythetic

Thanks for the replys, it is manual, and has less then 2000 KM, once it gets to 5000 I will switch to synthetic and hope it will get beter. my trips are very short to work. the engine does not even heat up half way to its normal running temp.

Cover your radiator with cardboard, it'll help it get up to temp. I don't even think Lithia puts synthetic in mine...not that it matters, it's covered under warranty so w/e.

This is probably why your mileage is more like the city rating. This would be considered city miles.
+1, I get highway mileage almost all the time since it's 55 all the way from my house to work. I'm usually at a constant 60-65.

even after doing a bit of highway on my latest tank (30% highway 70% city) I end up with only 26MPG
EPA MPG estimates 27 for city and 34 highway 30 combo.
which should be good.
I was just wondering if I should bring it to the dealers attention or not. I had 60 days to return, not sure if any are left. maybe I wont contact them, unless it does not get beter and at least its documented.
