Electronic Oil Pressure Gauge

Postby Nemasys » Wed Mar 31, 2010 8:17 am

Is it possible to connect one on these cars? If so any ideas where to get the signal wire from?

now, you engine is different than mine. I have the ecotec

If you find the pressure switch on the side of the head you can put a T there and put a pressure sensor there.

I can look over the manual when i get home to to verify where it is on yours..

Are you referring to the 2.0L U20SED? There is a stock oil pressure sending unit near the oil filter location, but that just goes to the stock ECU and will light up the low oil pressure light on the dash if your pressure goes below a certain threshold.

Are you talking about hooking up an electronic gauge to this stock sending unit directly? If that's the case, I'm not sure if that will work since I don't know what the output of the stock unit is.

If you are talking about buying an aftermarket gauge + sending unit package, then I would say to install the sender Tee'd off of the location where the stock sending unit is and you should get a reliable pressure reading.

The original sender is just a pressure switch. If the pressure drops below a certain point the idiot light comes on. But there is no signal per say. You'll need to put a T in and use the send that comes with the gauge.

Yes its the U20SED, and its an aftermarket gauge. I was almost certain that i would need a sending unit specifically for the gauge but i wasnt sure.

Ill have to chek out if i can find such a package somewhere but its not priority right now ;)
