The problem is that these cars use a positive 5 volt pulse from the ECU to trigger the ignition system unlike 95% of other cars that just ground the ignition coil to fire it. The drivers are built into the coil assembly making it very hard get a signal, even more use an aftermarket ignition system like an MSD.

Until i can figure something out, im dead in the water.

exist3nce, you must have encounted a similar problem with your e-manage. How did they get the unit to trigger properly?

Yup that sounds pretty familiar. The first shop that did my original setup 4 years ago ran into this same problem. The emanage also cannot take the +5v ignition. Their solution was to build a converter box that converted the signal for the emanage into something it could use. Unfortunately this box was very unreliable and left me stranded several times at which point i never went back to them. My new shop/tuner just removed that crappy box altogether and turned the ignition back to 100% stock. Thats the way its been running until today. Emanage only controls fuel and doesn't touch ignition at all. We found that the stock timing values are actually pretty decent for a boosted setup if the fuel is tuned properly.

Yes i see. And how does your e-manage get triggered now? I don't know how the wiring works for your unit, but there must be something it uses to figure out when to fire your injectors.

I emailed the guys at DIYAutotune, they might be able to figure something out.

Success, I have a working tach signal but it only reads 1/2 the current rev.

Meaning the car idles at 800-850 rpm, the reading in megatune is 400-425 rpm.

But the unit triggers and can fire the injectors, i havent connected anything yet, but the leds on the unit tell me its trying to fire the injectors!

Now to get the tach to give me the correct rev...

Did you get the RPM signal to work in the Megasquirt?

I havent played with it since, i have alot of things going on at once at the moment and im am moving in a month so it's kinda hectic around here.

Trying to get the new engine in the car before that, at least so i can have a car to go around with. I have a week off from work on June 27th, ill try to finish the megasquirt then.

A few financial problems came up and i had to put asside the car for a little bit. The engine is coming in next week's friday, that would be June 4th

Stay tuned.
