No oil leaks, no exhaust leaks, no problems with the engine!

I am finally happy! I have some pictures of the swap and tomorow i will take a couple of engine bay pics with the turbo and stuff!

exist3nce, your clutch works perfectly, thank you!

Nemasys wrote:No the engine is running on the stock tune so im not pushing it at all, i have to take it appart again because i forgot to take out a spacer behind the flywheel, the clutch doesnt disengage completely and i have to power shift every gear.

Glad to hear you got everything done and that you received the clutch in working order. So what exactly did you forget to remove? Why would there be a spacer behind the flywheel?

Turbo setup looks nice and clean, I like how you were able to keep the stock heatshield. Looks like you also had to remove one fan to fit in the turbo.... just watch out for the summertime heat - I had to add two extra smaller 8" fans to keep coolant temps under control during those really hot summer days.

There is a spacer behind the flywheel, probably because the motor is from an automatic car so there was a different flywheel on there. I didnt take it out.

Yeah ill look into a little fan i can get in there too, just in case 8-)

A little update for those who dont read the other Aveo forum.

Things were starting to get much better lately, the car was running with megasquirt and everything was working perfectly.

Yesterday bad luck struck again and the headgasket on my new motor blew again.

I have no idea why it happened, car felt strong, boost was good, fuel was plenty (10.5 to 11.0 AFR) it just started to puff a very heavy white smoke on a 3rd gear pass.

So im taking the car off the road probably, for how long? I dont know... Maybe forever, im tired of putting money in this car just so it blows up in my face 2 weeks down the road.

I went to a car dealer today and got a good price on a 2005 Mazda 3 GT 5 speed, very clean and good mileage.

If i get approved for credit.. buh bye Aveo most likely, im not sure what i will do with it.

how much boost were you running?

Wow Nemesis, that really sucks. Hey you gave it a good try. Maybe that configuration doesnt work and at some point maybe someone here on the forums will find the right combinations of parts to use that will hold up on the long run. I hope you dont ditch the car because its really nice and you've put so much time and effort into it. Maybe dump a stock motor back in and use as a utility car. Keep miles off the new one?
