Good post and he's right mine shifts at around 45-47 into fourth and if i hit 50 and barely let off the gas it downshifts again. its weird but i never keep track of my city mileage i only track highway on long trips which was like 30-32 average last trip. completely stock 06 Aveo Sedan btw.(i.e. no intake or any chip nonsense).

do you guys have a sport or economy button? anything like that?

i am surprised it is that far off, i wonder if you can hack into it and change the forced shift points

After having my '08 aveo new w/ 6 miles on it and now just over 29k I averaged 25.4mpg. City/Highway, and I would say I drive "spirited" to say the least. Mods are K&N, removed air intake resonator, H&R springs. Eclipse head unit & amp, Kicker mids & highs w/ 10" L5.

I have an 09 Manual with under 4000KM

after 8 fill ups since I got the car in Jan.
over 90% stop and go driving.
I have got 24.05 MPG or 10.22 KM/l

Maybe Chevy had good reason to program the shifting as they did? maybe it helped something else?

I would think they would have tried desperately to sqeek every last mpg possible out of the car to help lower there fleet average, and let the Vette, or there trucks hog a little more fuel.

I could be wrong

i would say it would be dependent of the speed limits, etc they developed for..

if 3rd gear hold till close to 50mph that gives you more top speed at lower rpms..

i cant think of a lot of roads where 45mph is an issue, around here at least. its 25, 35, 55, and 65 for the most part.

if you are worried about getting miles out of every drop you should have bought a manual :P

i have been tracking my milage for the last 5000 miles, im at 27.05 mpg right now, and this is reving the shit out of it all the time and rolling 90-100 on the highway, not too shabby, if i drove like a normal person, 30mpg and up is not out of the question

when are you shifting with that manual?
