Electric Supercharger? 3PSI?

Postby Manorness7 » Tue Apr 13, 2010 1:54 pm

I've been looking around for awhile for a nice clean turbo kit for our cars and doing part pricing inquiries... and came acrossed a few things like this:

http://www.superchargerswarehouse.com/C ... rchargers/

It just seems like it wouldn't work to me, or maybe it would I don't know. But really? Using power from the alternator to gain hp? That seems like a perpetual motion idea to me. The alternator is going to be a lot harder to spin with drawing more electrical power from it, thus reducing horsepower/ fuel mileage. But people are claiming this works and claiming so called horsepower gains? Hmmm... what's your opinion on this, who knows maybe I'll get some education myself out of this too.

Thanks

That one in perticular is a rip off. It won't overcome engine suction to do much throughput the power band plus it's restrictive.

But there are electric superchargers than could work. They look more like traditional belt driven super chargers.

Definately, that's what I thought too. Just pretty annoying that they spam their crap everywhere. And yeah haha that tornado bs... we want to have least amount of restriction in the air intake... not more.

the concept for the votnaotso things is good, but there is no way the little $30 fan is going to do anything

its not about price, if you can blow the fan faster than the natural aspiration pull in the air to develop a positive pressure in the intake manifold, then it works.

there is a utube of a guy who put a leaf blower on his intake and a nitrous tank with the valve cracked near by and he picked up lots of hp..

The only easily "affordable" electric supercharger available to my knowledge is the E-Ram.

It suposedly slightly pressurises your intake close to 1 psi. If i were to buy such a device, the e-ram would most likely be my 1st choice. Ive seen a few videos of the thing and its quite powerfull. This thing might actually work.
