another filter question

Does the aveo have an internal valve since the filter is just the filter? basic filters have the valve so if too much pressure due to old filter the oil bypasses the filter.. you know what im asking? im asking because Gm recommends if using synthetic 7500 or 12 months before oil changes... without changing filter which i heard is a good idea...
