new to site, few questions

Postby vince_aveo5 » Wed Feb 03, 2010 10:55 am

So ive looked around the site for a few hours now, and it's the best aveo site ive seen on the web. I have a 2008 aveo5. All stock except a sony xploid stereo. I want to get a body kit, i saw this picture and found the kit closest for an 08 aveo5.

Like i said, ive found the kit online : http://www.urbanworx.com/products/prod_ ... od_id=4903

but its $1600+ shipping, can anyone help me find a cheaper one, ive been set on this bodykit like the one in the picture for a while now, and still cant find a cheaper one, and its killin me, its also the only reason i havent bought it yet.

and i know the body kit pictured isnt one that goes straight onto a 08 aveo5 , but its the one i like the most.

Next, ive seen a couple aveo's online that have the "eyelids" on the headlights.

but i cant find them anywhere online, any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance,
vince

I think thats the only place to get the kit, widebody kits are costly, but this one is well worth it, you will have one of the only aveos with it, also people make the eyelids, but I think you can order some from sharkracing or one of those places from korea, though making one would be a better buy

I checked out the shark racing, and they dont have any for the Aveo. How would i go about making them myself??

And i really want the body kit. But idk if its a bolt on, so i can do it myself, or if id have to get it professionally done.

Welcome, glad you like the forums.

it says right in the description on the body kit you are going to want professional installation..
for the work involved in fitting that kit, i would imagine you would have 5-6000 into it by the time it is done, at least.

maybe / probably more depending on any fitment or finish issues that will arise, when the shop actually receives the kit.
plus it is only fiberglass so it will need reinforced and probably redone every couple years.

i would fine a shop and really talk to them, fitting a wide kit is one thing, but having it look good, like factory costs a lot of money, and a lot of shops do not have that skill.

Welcome, yeah if you're looking at wide-body you are looking at problems...Fitment, adjustment, reinforcing, molding and blending...lots of hours of bondo work, and then after it all you almost have to repaint the whole car. For a Class-A quality job you are looking at 8-10k easy.

unless it is the widebody, i do not like any of the other kits, perhaps a turbo is something you may want

You may look at http://www.sgcarstyling.com. They have a couple of decent looking body kits. I think they say local pickup only, but I'm sure you could work something out with them, because I think their price includes install or something. They are in Singapore, so I don't think they'll be the ones installing it for you.
I like this one the best so far though:

i would spend then same amount of money on custom work.. metal flares in the fender and 1/4 -berg cup style 3" in front 5" in rear which would need carried over into the door. molding the bumper ends to match the contour( i do not like shave bumper lines.. a slight boxing of the rocker. at the same time to match, bring it down.

for a gen 1 front end i would then get kalos headlights and just fill reshape the front turn area and stock bumper to match..

or do either 07 up sedan front or convert it to 09 hatch (you all know i like the 09 hatch)

then options like : slight boser of the hood, grafted front lip, shaved emblem (09 front), etc

the rear i would shave the hatch and contour the bottom to match the top of the bumper.. build 09 led tails, boser the tails.. build a mid wing that wraps into the 1/4s..

hell for all that money and time i would just buy a clip and doors from europe and convert it to a 2 door..

Forget that, I'd just sell mine and import a kalos 3dr from europe. Throw a lip kit on it and slam it on 15s or 16s and be done with it.
