Which springs are better and how much do they lower your car:
Originally posted by mikedudley:
As you'll read, most of the users on this forum are using H&R springs. All 4 types of performance springs offered for the aveo are fantastic products, but each one lowers your car a different amount.
H&R springs lower your car 1.5"F and 1.4"R
Apex springs lower your car 1.2"F and 1.2"R
Intrax springs lower your car 1.5"F and 1.5"R
Eibach ProKit springs lower your car 1.3"F and 1"R

Is it safe to cut coils on springs:
Most of us on this forum would tell you yes. However, the best way to lower your car is always with a set of performance lowering springs. You can cut a coil off any spring without any problems so long as you cut the coil exactly. Any more than 1 coil you are slammed and may run into problems with rubbing. You will notice a little bouncier ride though with cut springs. Do not heat springs, it is inredibly hard to get and even ride height and it tempers the metal in the spring which could cause it to shatter under stress.

Where can I get coil-overs and other suspension parts:
Do Not buy no-name coil-overs from eBay. Contact aveonetwork.com member xiaogary via PM. He lives in Singapore and sells these parts and more. Also certain braces and other suspension parts can be found at http://ultraracingcanada.com/?q=catalog/27.

What's the biggest rim that fits the aveo:
18" rims are as big as you can go. You cannot lower your aveo on 18" rims though, you will rub. The largest most users go on this forum is a 17" rim with a 205/40/R17 tire. You can still use any of the performance springs offered with this set-up.

keep in mind that is +40 with a 5.5" tire..

but yeah really crappy tires, i went through 2 sets in 4000 miles. And then upgraded to 16" because the dealer wouldn't replace them for free a second time.
