Postby LarsBud » Tue Jan 26, 2010 9:07 am

Has anyone converted their rear drums to disc breaks?

i have figured everything out except i haven't machined an adapter. I have a guy willing to make them at 13mm widths. And i could also make them myself if i bought the tooling. but a 13 mm adapter with the read disc setup means i would put my wheels out another 10 mm and i don't have room for that,

I am also working on an 11" front brake set up. (or up to 11.3" if you want to pay more for parts.)

Xiaogary has done it and offers a kit for it. PM him for the info. He also has a big brake kit for the front.

It wasn't cheap...I'll see if I can find it again.

with my idea if everything is bought new: @ $500.

if you shop smart and buy some things used: @ 300?

i bought most of my parts aside from the wheel bearings pads and rotors for $40 bucks, the rest will be less than $100 (oem replacement quality as cheap as $60). The adapter plate will run @ $100.

mine personally will be finished and installed for about $200.

Yeah, I don't need rear disks. Up here on the ice with no ABS if my brakes lock up I'm screwed.
