The Montegi 16" rims I want with 195/50 tires mounted, balanced, and shipped to my door is $640. But depending on the tires you want, and the rims you want the price will vary. Try going to http://www.performanceplustire.com, they seem to have the best deals for packages.

No problems with rubbing on these. 195/50/R16 is .9" taller and .4" wider, and when your speedo reads 60 you'll actually be doing 62.5mph.

Thanks Wolfman, I figured that after I did some math and realized they would be 5mm smaller in diameter to that of 17s with 40 profiles... which fits. I might have to wait a little bit to get these because I have a nice chunk of change coming in soon and dont want to cut myself too short until then.

do yourself a favor and get a 215/45r16 if you are staying stock height.

same amount of sidewall, larger contact patch for performance.

Oh definitely, if you are staying stock height go with a wider tire. If you plan to drop you want to stay some-what close to stock.

I wont rub while turning with 215/45s? That's what I'm worried of. Would love to go wide, also that's going to cause more drag on this little car won't it? Less mpg? I am going with 45 profiles after seeing a pair today in the parking lot. Am semi worried as well about the tires over hanging the fenders... the cops are hammering down on literally everything where I live. I seriously have to do the speed limit/ mile under bc it is getting so bad.

Most aftermarket rims in 16's and 17's are usually +38 or +40 offset so it won't poke outside the fender. You shouldn't have any problems with rubbing on those tires. I believe Greg has 215/35/R17's on his blue 09'. Let me look...yeah, here it is:

you shouldnt poke or rub at stock height, and looking at a 45 series is meaningless unless it is the same size tire as you are buying. it is a % of the side wall.. a bad ex cause i am nt going to the calculator: a 185/60 will have approximately the same size wall as a 235/40 in the rim size.

What rim size did you mean for the 235/40 having the same sidewall as stock Rabbit? Just curious because I did happen to have the calculator in front of me... :lol: . In a stock 185/60/R14 your sidewall measures 4.37". A 235/40/R14 would measure 3.7", and a 235/40/R16 would measure 5.66".

i was only a .5" off off the top of my head.
it was the point of not thinking a 50 series will always be the sane sidewall, or more that a 45 series in height.

besides that, your numbers are wrong, a 235/40 tire will always have the same sidewall regardless or rim diameter.

235 mm x .4 % = 94mm/25.4mm = 3.7" sidewall.

to figure out diameter from there with rim width is:

(sidewall height)x2 + (rim size)= diameter
