Re: Coilovers
So, how's the drive in that thing? Soft/Stiff, Bouncy/Rigid? I'm just a little concerned about not having any helper springs in the rear axle assembly anymore with these, does it matter? Btw, it looks sexy as hell. Those front wheels are tucking nicely. Which brand of coilovers are those?

Re: Coilovers
its definitely stiff compare to the stock shocks. the roads around here are so bad (seriously, potholes and uneven pavement everywhere) that when you are going over the bad sections it is bouncy.. 1-2 bounces per bump not like endless honda death bounce. but when i finally got to smooth highway, it drove nice, at least even with overly it low and lack of the sway bar still. it is stable and handles as good as with my h&rs on stock shocks but with the additional drop. going up will only improve the ride.
These are the rokkor coil overs $289 shipped on ebay. The ones that i based my original pricing on. About $100 or more cheaper than a set of aveo lowering springs and kyb shocks. Definitely not the best coil over available. But they are right there in ride (slammed) as all the other sub $600 coil overs out there. but you can definitely improve with more money spent.
Removing the spring from the axle has shown no issues to me. I have been checking for body flex, i do not have any and if been running it hard and on bad terrain.. it also gives more suspension travel before the spring slaps itself. The area the shock mounts to is more reinforced than the vw the coil over was designed for.
the only thing i need to do is is the math behind the end link kit. the sway bar doesn't interfere with the driveshaft at any point, nor does it appear to come close to the tie rods. so it wont be a huge ordeal. but i need to size out the length and heim joints etc.

Re: Coilovers
I think I might order a cheap set of raceland coils. They're like $230 on their site, and I've used them before. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt ... s%3Disch:1

Funny thing rokkor and raceland have the same mailing address and paypal... But the rokkor were cheaper when I ordered. (awhile ago at this point).
Re: Coilovers

Re: Coilovers
that is very extreme examples though ^^
if you set the height the same on each side (front and back) you wont compromise handling like they infer. you would practically need to set the lf and rr all the way up and the rf and lr all the way down to not be able to turn.. but also be more than 2" from each other in the threads to compromise handling..
The basic setup i have on my car has dampening matched to the springs, so you can take full advantage of the spring. Also has indefinite height adjustment, so if you want your car just a hair lower for looks or higher to prevent rubbing, you take an hour and turn the seats. Where if you spend the same or more at this point on kybs and sport springs, what drop you get is what you get.
If you spend some more money, you can also adjust dampening and the height of the shock withing the coil, etc and make it raide like oem at any height, but your talking more adjustable coilovers with more price. BUT still going to be cheaper than Xiogarys.
I can ramble forever about it like i said.

Re: Coilovers
So, all we're missing now is something for the front sway bar?
