Just spoke to GM and found out that this part is not covered by any warranties. So beware fellow Aveo drivers of things that go clunk in the trunk.

How many miles do you have? 22000? Isn't that still under the bumper to bumper?

I bet you could push the issue if you wanted to spend more money than the repair to fight it out. But it's probably not worth it..

It might be your area and dealership as well. I even got my tires replaced under warranty without asking they just did it.

I dont understand why at 22K they wont warranty it? It still should be warranted under the 3yr/36K.

I checked in with GM customer support and according to them I only have power train emission and corrosion warranties in effect on my Aveo. My only hope is that the local Chevy dealer will consider it some sort of early failure and replace the parts, unfortunately there is wiggle room involved which allows them to declare abuse in which case its all mine. Since I have not used the car for either racing or rallying I'm hoping that they will replace the part.
