Go to a junk yard and cut that $#!+ out. Pay for it while you're there though.

I guess you could do my original idea then pack that opening in the plug with silicone. You'd have to cut and re-do the same thing to change your bulbs again. A little ghetto, but nobody's gonna' see it anyways.

^ That's what I would do because I'm cheap like that. Silicone is the liquid nails for cars

ok i added a pic of where the socket goes into..... can anyone tell me where i can buy it? none of the auto parts stores here have it for some stupid reason.
the bulb is a sylvania 896... i think thats how the brand name is spelled...
auto parts stores here only carry 9000 bulb sockets and up.
i also tired lookin up sockets on ebay.. would the socket for H11 bulbs work for mine too?
they look about the same i just dont wanna buy something that wont work

Sometimes the way you learn is just to buy what you think might work and plan it out in your head almost. I have come to the conclusion that nothing is ever easy and there is always something that is going to happen that you didn't expect to happen. But you do learn, and the harder it is the more you learn and the easier it is to remember.
I would say just get some socket clips like the picture earlier and make it work. I've used them on a number of applications, that's how I wired in a halogen bulb exactly like you have in my house with 12v to have for power outages, since I have wind and solar that I can charge my battery bank with. Or if you can't hook it up that way just go to a junkyard and tell them what you're looking for, they usually are happy to help since you're giving them business.
EDIT: In fact I have that same exact bulb in my house, it came from a tractor headlight that broke. Search for compatible numbers on the internet for sockets, so many are interchangeable with others.
