i think that is what came in the old turbo probes?
Re: Good turbine for the aveo?
The book is worth $30, it's a good read with lots of useful stuff. IHIs are on probes
You can't believe everything you read on the internet, after all that's how World War 1 was started.

Re: Good turbine for the aveo?
Small T4 would be a horrible choice.
First off you need to address how much power ( and thus boost ) you want to make.
If it's more than say 7 PSI then your looking at putting in some serious money into the engine.
If less than 7PSI you should be able to go with a real Garrett Ball bearing turbo.... most likely a GT25 series will give you nearly instant boost, high efficency, long life and more boost than your stock engine can handle.
Don't buy EBAY crap... this is the heart of a turbocharged engine.... do you really want a used or poorly manufactured one?
If you do go used I'd still suggest a T25.... the 1988 to 1991 Sunbird GT turbo has the GM factory turbocharged Opel 2.0L 8V ( which is the same engine we dropped into an Aveo two years ago.... it makes 18PSI of boost and kills stock and lightly modified Subaru WRX STi's )
This particular T25 is a Garrett turbo and would be more than sufficent for the 1.6L..... you can sometimes find rebuilt ones in around a couple hundred bucks.

For how much work and money you would put in to making a custom turbo system around this cars turbo, it would be worth it to do a full engine swap yes? A 1.6L has a lot of potential, but imagine the build and upgrade possibilities of a 2.0 platform...drool.

Well.... the 2.0L 8V was a couple grand because it was rebuilt ( our friend is a machinist at a local engine shop so he was able to do it for very little )
I haven't looked at the factory GM 1.6L turbo manifold ( Corsa VXR ) but I wouldn't be surprised if someone is already working on an aftermarket manifold.

Looks like the Z16LER is making around 194 BHP stock and with a simple remap and few bits an pieces they are making about 239 BHP.
Here is a Corsa VXR manifold and turbo for about 350GBP

Re: Good turbine for the aveo?
So, will this bolt directly to the aveo's 16V head or does it need a new flange? I wonder if it clears the stock hood. Edit: Nevermind, I was looking at it wrong. It would clear no problem.

I haven't looked at the factory manifold to compare yet.... I tried to upload the picture but it limits size and wont allow me.
Given I was going to post this onto Daewootech.com as well ( as I'm the co-owner of that forum ) and we don't have limits for pics you will have to see it there.
