Supercharger
I do not want to turbo my aveo, but possibly supercharging it would be easier. What would be a good supercharger to get in the future?

Re: Supercharger
basically, it is the same.
the engine and management need to be modified about the same way.. however with a turbo you need the exhaust manifold and turbo. and the supercharger requires a belt system..
i though about adapting a mini cooper S supercharger onto mine, but the amount of work and room fitting it into the serpentine belt system, and on the engine for the same amount of hp, turboing it is just easier...

Re: Supercharger
wow hunter is giving up turbo?
but i agree with rabbit. where the serpentine belt is is too crowded to add a supercharger.

Re: Supercharger
i actually had placement figure out. i was going to move the power steering to the ac location, since i dont have ac, then mount the supercharger off the mini cooper beside (in front) the head.
its not worth it though as i said about the same everything else, and it is a lot harder to make brakets to hold the supercharger exactly where it needs to be with the serp belt and also not interfere with anything else. plus the design puts it right about the hot exhaust.
but it could be done

Re: Supercharger
too bad it is too hard to do, it would be so much better than the turbo i think

Re: Supercharger
Plus it is a lot harder to tune your boost on a supercharger, as you have to up your pulley sizes and what-not. For the money and ease of installation turbo is better bang for your buck and it's a much more upgrade-able system.

Re: Supercharger
sorry i made this thread in the wrong place
i want to stay N/A, i was curious about the possiblity of a supercharger thats all
i want to have my aveo run about 15 seconds, that is my goal, im at about 17.4, so i need to shave off 2.4 seconds
camshafts and ecu tune will do great things, maybe 15.5 is more likely
