Well employment opportunities are pretty much the same here in Western NY. Only things REALLY slow down in the Frosty cold months ahead.

I figure if I'm gonna be broke and jobless, might as well be broke and jobless where its always warm (I can take the heat) and I can mooch off of my folks for a while too...

Jobs are ok up here in Alaska. It is slim pickins, but if you have a skill there are possibilities for you. I'm waiting to hear back, but I may be leaving my position at Carlile to work for a native oil rig corporation called NANA. I have all my loader, crane, CDL and mining licenses so it's not that bad. I'm legal to drive almost anything with wheels, and some things without lol.

Hmmm, not quite my style. It's a pretty rough road, not sure if my back could take all the hills. I'd much rather run between Fairbanks Alaska and Edmonton Canada. I've only been driving for a couple years, I'm pretty good at it, but I need to practice timing my downshifts with my jakes a little more to pull the hills. I'd really like to get into Heavy Haul doing oversize work and specialized stuff.

This weekend I drive my Aveo from here in NY to Ft Myers Florida. 21+ hours solid driving, 1,450 miles.

It's gonna be hellish... I plan on loading up what room I have in the back- no rear seat, just baggage - with some blankets and pillows for a 6 hour power nap somewhere around the halfway point.

Hopefully I can beat my best of 34mpg highway. I have 5 tankfull's of almost solid highway driving to try.

Might have to leave early if this snow keeps up..

I just drove from Bradenton (about 80 miles north of Ft. Myers) to Rochester about 3 and a half weeks ago. Best MGP was 37.18 I believe. I actually went over 400 miles on a single tank. I left at 630am on a saturday morning and got into Rochester, NY at 3:30am the next day for a total of 21 hours. 1389 miles. So I feel your pain. I'll be driving back down to FL in a little over 4 weeks, not looking forward to that drive either.
