Megasquirt is a standalone fully programmable ECU, and the cheapest available too. You can customize it to fit anything, the possibilities are endless.

You can either buy it already assembled or if you are good with electronics and a solder gun you can assemble it yourself with the options you need for your specific application.

same with vw, and a few honda guys. i think it is the staple unit if you have a budget. as it does everything you could need in system for under $1000 to be running. Less if you can diy.
