Tie rod end at 5k miles??

Postby Rainbow1616 » Mon Mar 08, 2010 1:36 pm

Wow My wife took the car up for inspection today at colussys in Bridgeville and they told her it need a left front tie rod assembly?
At 5k miles are you serious? I usually drive this car and before you ask NO i never hit potholes, don;t think I ever have with this car.

Anyone have any input? Is this common?

if it is worn and not broken, they should replace it under warranty. if there is sign of other damage, like a bent or curbs rim, scrapes on the control arm etc, then they can claim damage, but i would personally say a defective part with 5k on it.

Yes they are doing it completely under warranty I have no complaints whatsoever. I just wondered if this was common place and can I expect to be changing these myself after its out of warranty?

I still love the car was just a bit taken back by this.

I think it's part of the price a few "defective" parts get though. But they should all get caught under the warranty period. Mine needed a fuel pump before 5000 miles, it's just part of affordability, that some things get through production. Which is fine if it's fixed later for free!
