Battery Relocation

Postby thehunterooo » Tue Sep 22, 2009 9:29 pm

I think this will be one of my next projects, of course ill be buying a optima battery too

has anyone done this yet? i still figuring out where to run the wires to the trunk

relocating the battery will remove some weight from up front, clean up the engine bay and look cleaner, might also increase battery longetivity without all the outside elements and avoid some of that heat

more room for turbo too :D

I started to do a battery relocation, but never got around to it. You're going to need some thick gauged wired (i think 0). I guess the best way would be to run it through the firewall and then under the side trim into the trunk. You could go under the car and up through one of the trunk gromments, but thats pretty dangerous because you dont know what could happen to the wire while it's under the car
You can't believe everything you read on the internet, after all that's how World War 1 was started.

your battery isn't where the turbo goes. but you would want to move the fuse and relay box toward the fender too..

i would run the wires into the car at either the firewall, or along the factory harness in the fender well. then run it in the corner of the floor along the rocker section under the carpet. drill holes through supports instead of laying the wire over them and used rubber grommets. take it over the wheel well and into the trunk, i think for proper weight distribution you would want it on the passenger side of the truck.

I think C3customs could help you with this. wiring and such.

yeah, i know you dont have to move the battery for turbo but its always good to have the extra room up there

i think i read that 4 guage wiring works too?

i ran my power to the amp through the firewall and down under the side trim, it worked good until i got to the back seat (ill have to remove that trim too)

if you amp wire is large enough you just need to put the battery on the other end of it,

it would probably be cheaper to buy a battery relocation kit from jegs or summit than trying to do it with amp wire.
