sup everbody i just did my timing belt change and the rest of the stuff that comes with the kit for my 07 aveo hatch. i never did this project before i just do the basic things like oil changes brakes and spark plugs wires, ect. at first i felt a lil over whelmed about doing this project myself but its actually pretty simple and can save you $$$ doing it your self. a very big help would be to get the ALL DATA SHEET, i got my print out from work. i gotta go back in because the timing is a lil off because i had to rush due to limited time. so this time i will be able to take pictures step by step of what i did. ill try to get this posted as soon as possible

yea he might just be a tooth or two off because even mine did that when the dealer installed it. They tuned it correct of course but they tried to argue with me that its suppose to idle like that. ha!

i just did mine today with a fellow aveo owner, and we are 1 tooth off and it idles choppy
how bad is that for the car, caz i realy dont wana go back and re-doit

Well it's not good. It's choppy at idle, 800rpm. But even though it sounds like it smooths out the computer etc is compensating and it's still the same amount off. One tooth might be 3-4*. So high rpm might be detrimental

can i adjust the timing with out actuly taking off the belt again?

Do you have an adjustable timing gear? I don't think it does. So you would need to move the belt
Depending on which it needs you might be able to do it just removing the timing cover? I have not done the etec-II myself though to say.

This is why I used a little white paint mark on the belt where 1 tooth met up with one cog, on each sprocket.
Then transfered the marks to the new belt.
Then transfered the marks to the new belt.
