2006 AVEO LT Spedometer reading higher then what actual speed is!

      Hello all, New user here.

I have recently traded up from a 2003 ford Taurus to a 2006 Aveo lt sedan, It would seem that the speedometer is inaccurately reading the correct speed by almost 10 km higher. The cars computer is showing the correct speed so I know that the car is receiving this information correctly. It seems there are service bulletins addressing this problem, with a fix, so my question is since the speed is out and obviously this is an issue who pays to correct this problem? Myself or Chevrolet?

      regards

      Jack

Send me your vin, otherwise go to the dealer and see if (if its a well enough known issue) that a notice has been posted. if so then dealer covers it, otherwise see what dealer will cost, compared to a local shop (programmer is fast)

Not listing anything, or any investigations to your stated issue.

camopaint0707 has the easiest fix, if you dont know anyone who can do so.

WHAT size tires do you have on the car ? If there not close to stock size that might be it.

@pontiac1976 the tires are exactly the size stated on the door panel, the Cars computer shows the correct speed which would definitely indicate the same speed as the IPC if the tire size was in question. Also first thing I checked.

I see that but no documentation. No recalls or investigations, just a bulliten that shows your issue and most likely the customer had to pay to fix
