any engine can be built, its just the cost benefit to doing it.

aveo's (even this 2.0 in this thread) are all variants of vauxhall engines, so there are already parts available if you can take the time to cross reference everything, check the measurements, etc. The big problem with unsupported engine builds, other than money, is tuning or programming. Being able to just be chipped for your mods in a matter of minutes is ALOT easier than having to set up and tune a custom set up. This is what stops me, as i can ruin the emissions controls as western pa emissions is as stringent as california emissions.

The best way if you want to keep your normal driving fuel economy and pass emisions test is to run the stock fuel/ecu and add additional injectors with a seperate controler that will fire the injectors under boost conditions.

I recently found out how to wire in the megasquirt to get an accurate tach signal thru the crank sensor, which means i will be able to run completely stand alone (control fuel and spark via megasquirt) this would be ideal but i still need to figure out a system that will work with the spark since this is a distributor-less ignition system. I can buy an MSD 6A ignition box but i need somekind of coilpack to make the spark happen.

You could then legally run FL plates as well. Only 1 plate required and NO state taxes either. Double bonus.

Project on hold for the past few weeks, money was running low i had to "restock" hahah!

The oil scavenge pump is in, ill snap some pics when im not lazy and wow that thing is alot bigger then i thought...

I ordered a set of new piston rings from the *cough* dealer *cough* yesterday for a whopping $211 #%$()*^Q@!!!

I'm on a 1 week vacation from work starting this Friday, let's hope mother nature cooperates. There is alot of work to do on that engine... Take the head off again then rip the oil pan out, take the pistons out to change the rings (if the pistons are not cracked or damaged, you know how lucky i am) put everything back together and pray to god it's going to work this time!

      I'll keep you guys posted!

Your going to rebuild it with the block in the car? fun..

you buy new bearings and everything too? A good set of bearings (since your pulling it apart) would help the bottom end, and double checking the wrist pins etc..

$211 is CRAZY for rings.. whats so special about them?

I didn't buy any bearings no. The engine only has 30 000 km's on it, its virtually new, if it had like 70-80k i would have gotten new bearings they should be in good shape!

I have no idea why the rings are so expensive, i let them know what i thought about that for sure, all they said is "We don't make the prices, it's in the system" God knows how true that is but whatever.

I could have picked up rings from rockauto.com for around 100 bux plus shipping, but the Optra/Forenza isnt listed, i looked under Daewoo Nubira. I wasn't 100% certain it would be the right rings so i went with the dealer for 100 bux more.
