A few new things

I finally got my America Remembers license plates. So they are now on and lookin' good:

and today, I had the rear part of the muffler cut out and put an angled tip where the rest of the pipe used to be:

I really like the way it sounds now, it has a slight burble when I downshift. I know it will only get better when I have the custom intake made up for it. I plan on using the same muffler shop and getting some 1 1/2" pipe bent for my specs on what i'll need.

Those are actually the 2F2F edition of rims. LOL, that is definitely on the to do list. I'm just undecided if I want to go with 17s or go huge and get some 19s. I know the 19s will require some modifications to be done to the car to get them to fit with no clearance issues, but hey it's a work in progress. Thanks for the comments about the plates.

Very nice, I'm booking my car in to get a tint soon, its really irritating me now that its not and I like the look of these cars tinted. How do the H&R springs ride compared to stock? Do you have an exhaust clip? Looks good so far!

Edit: I saw your other post and I was wondering, did you notice if the stock radio has RCA outputs?

I didn't notice, but stereo things are not my specialty. It was very easy to switch out the stock unit with the stuff I bought from Crutchfield. I still have my stock head unit in my garage if that makes any difference. Is it something I can just look at the stock head unit and tell about the RCA outputs? If so, let me know what to look out for.

RCA outputs would come in pairs, one red and one white, they are the same connectors you use to hook up a dvd player. So yes look at the back and you will see them.

Oh and can you tell me if there is a remocon hookup on your sticker, I'm trying to figure something out, but don't have a stock stereo.
If the REMOCON is there just tell me what number it is. That will answer my question, thanks.

I like the side out exhaust.


I will be running my exhaust out the side also this spring, but it will come out the passenger side. I will be running a thrush glass-pack.

Oh now I see the pipe. I'm going to do similar but I want my exhaust to run just behind side skirts, so that it shows.

I just looked at the stock radio, there are no rca outputs coming off of the back of it and the only sticker on it was the DAEWOO sticker which had the model # and like a diagram of the wires. The word REMOCON was nowhere on that sticker either. As far as I could tell nothing about remote connectors just front speakers, rear speakers, etc.

As for the exhaust, I plan on getting side skirts, when I find a set I like and then I will have a hole cut in the driver's side for the exhaust to come out of.

LARSBUD - it was easier to bring the exhaust out of the drivers side of the car because of the way it is piped underneath the car.Basically it comes from the front of the car and then makes a 90 degree turn towards the drivers side and then another 90 degree turn to go out the back of the car. The underbody and everything has been designed for this meaning there are already indentations and everything to allow the pipe to be closer to the body of the car going towards the drivers side. It will hang pretty low if you re-route it to come out the passenger side because there are no indentations in the body going towards the passenger side, so you'll have to re-route the pipe to go underneath what's already there and that will make your pipe pretty low to the ground. Just a heads up.

you would also run into the fuel lines running it to the passenger side. (not saying you can't but dont want to boil your gas..)

there is some room in front of the beam for pipe. but the muffler etc would need to be in the tunnel i think.

Yeah I got to thinking about that a little bit, and I haven't looked under my car at all. Also never considered the fuel lines, thanks rabbit. Oh well it would look unique but it's not practical so it's out the window. I will probably just run something similar to what RoRo has done here with his, it does look good, and I'm sure it gives a nice sound. That is if you don't mind me copying you a little bit RoRo?

As for Radio, thanks. might be different on the second gen's I will just pull my stereo and take a pic to peak interest on my other thread lol.

No worries, mine is only temporary anyways. As soon as I find some side skirts I like, then the exhaust will be coming out of the side skirts.

The Glass-pack is 21 inches, long so I need enough space to mount it after the cat. I have already found I don't have enough room to run it after the rear axel. so that is out. So that only lets me run it out the side. I haven’t been under the car with the parts yet to see if it’ll fit on the passenger side.
The Glass-pack only has a 4” diameter so it want hand very low, but I will have to see. Probable be another week or two before I can get under the car and piecing it all together.

I believe there is also a shorter version of the cherrybomb. I know on our old VW GTi race car we had to run 2 inthe tunnel to get it quiet enough. Damn thing sounded like a Messerschmidt!

I was going to say that can go in the center tunnel.

I can't wait to hear how it sounds, but this is the Thrush I have to work with. Can't bring it back, because I picked it up in Florida. Ok it only costed $24

I pried the gold bow tie off of the front bumper, no problem. The silver backing stayed in place, which in my humble opinion is a nice touch with the black bowtie outlined in silver. It goes good with the dual grills. I tried the same with the rear, but the gold bowtie broke in several pieces as I was gently trying to get it off the hatch. So I just painted the backing black.

Next step is the headlights. I can't decide if I want to add an Audi type led strip on the inside of each headlight and paint them all black, or just paint them all black. I also want to do something with those hideous fake port vents or whatever they're called in the fenders. I can't stand those. I opened the driver door and pulled on the side of the fender vent thing, but it's attached with tons of adhesive or something. I don't want to damage them if I do take them out because I don't just want a fender with an indentation in it with nothing there.

the fender vent is a vent. it has a big hole behind it. it clips in.

I'll have to look at mine again. I didn't think it was a true vent because I saw black plastic in between the fake chrome. So there is no air getting in or out. Regardless, it looks tacky as all hell. It's so trendy, like everyone and their brother started putting fake port hole vent crap on their cars, so Chevy decided to throw their hat in and profit off of it and I'm forced to suffer. You see those stick on vents at almost every department store now...walmart, target etc.

the black part is sealed, but also contains a bunch of tabs around the outside that holds the vent in.. the chrome is screwed to the black part.

looks good roro, say i just left illinois, haha right now im in arakansas. lil rock. ill be headin down south 2 tx 2morrow. :) o btw 20s can fit with those spring spacers. i saw some 19s brand new near my town for $200!! i would get them but i already have some 20s ready 2 go on the aveo. i also have some 15, and 16s <- need paint. ill post up my ideas when i get home!` welcome!!!
