The ratios will change with the engine swap.. I can deal with it until then. The 09 aveo, from my understanding, has the closest ratio transmission for my engine so I can deal with it for a while.

Your students are fantastic! Glad you can put so much trust in them.

Never have been in a Vocational Body or mechanics class as a student, I can't say I know what the "norm" is for students to learn.
I push my students until they can't do it, get frustrated, and the reset and build them back up to where we left off with more confidence to keep going.
Not too many pictures to post, pulling the gas tank for welding, fine cutting (which you can't see it moved in pictures), then relocate the filler, shave the filler door, and pull in the new wheel wells, and then fit the flares!
minimal visual.. but here is where i left off for the weekend:
1. Got the gas tank pulled, not a bad job overall. Took 2 periods and then my help.
2. Pulled the filler tube, cut out the filler panel, and relocated to gas door release to the hatch (going to use it as a hatch popper).
3. Go more cutting done, go the car centered on the rack to pull off the other back tire and start on the drivers side.
included a Test fit:
Now the tire is not pushed in all the way, it was hitting the blocks the car was resting on. And that is not where i am mounting the flare, thats just a "depth" measurement. But overall, I will have a full wheel well.
Ok have you had spring break? Things went dark here and we have not had an pretty pictures to keep us interested. Just a bump to say "what's new?"

so much work on an aveo
I can't show you everything can I?
The inner structure has been a lot of work for the students to do. Nothing like when I have done it myself. We have had a few "Emergency" jobs come through the shop this semester. And also have a larger project that we got involved in.. over the last month..
Some pictures of the things finally beginning to be "closed" up..
Our other project moving along as well:
same student, unidentifiable in these pics.

Thank you! For sharing. Yeah that inner structure for your wheel wells is going to be difficult. It's also fascinating to see your students progress. Honestly, I think your project is actually going to stretch their skills and imaginations.
