HERE IS MY KALOS!!!! (yes, I know its really an Aveo, but I loved the sound of Kalos and learned it was Greek for "beautiful" so it fits. :)
Just realized that tomorrow (5/5/10) will be my 5 month anniversary! :) how should I celebrate??... but dropping her off at the body shop for some minor paint repair..... :) lol
Getting hit so soon after buying it - that sucks!
It is kind of funny the way the Audi emblem was visible afterwards though. I think you got branded. :)

I had the same thing happen with my wife's last car. We had it roughly one month before someone rear ended her. I was not happy. :evil:
Luckily the girl admitted fault and her insurance took care of it. It ended up being $3000 in damage. But, as many of you have probably found out, there are few aftermarket parts for the Aveo, so they repaired it with all new GM parts.
The body shop did great, and it looks better than new.
so they repaired all those spots?
Yup. New hood. New headlight housing. New front bumper. New back bumper. And new honeycomb in back. And a front end allignment that the shop threw in free since I requested it but the insurance company wouldn't cover it.

@Reddemon Yes, I live in the metro Orlando area. but most of my driving is around UCF or John Young/Sandlake area. Do you live in Orlando area too??

I actually live more on the West side of the city, but my boyfriend lives over by UCF and thats where I go to school.
I have a red 2005 aveo sedan model.... I painted my headlights black and my tailights are tinted black and so are my front turn signals. I'm like the only one in orlando i think that did that to their aveo.
Yea i stay a bit further north in Jacksonville myself. but nice car i hate how expensive repairs are though. good thing her insurance paid.
I like the shorty antenna. I've seen it on other 09-10 body style aveos. Is that what comes stock on them?
yes. the short antenna is stock. everything on Kalos is stock at the moment.
I went 2 weeks ago to get a decal for the back window and the business i chose were not willing to work with me at all and my design (which is VERY simple) so I walked out. They were really rude too. Completely ignored me too. UGH! annoyed now just thinking about it again. lol
I checked out the DIY headlight painting......dont know if I could stick my lights in the oven. lol. My boyfriends brother has done it, but I just dont think Id be able to.... not yet at least. I have this awful vision of it lighting of fire or melting down....and having no headlights.. lol

haha that headlight mod scares me, does it seal back up well? Lot of water in the air down south
Hunter i have opened one of my headlights 2 or 3 times already. It pretty much seals back to normal pretty good. First time was an accident when i accidently popped the city light plastic cover off. Other time to paint it. Was thinking of getting halos later on but not at the top of the list right now.
oh yeah i forgot you did that to your headlights too

I was thinking about getting halos. Happened to mention it to a BMW owner, and he was not too happy....guess its kinda "their thing" lol Whatever!
Like Ive stated before, time is just not a variable I have at the moment. Between work and classes, even looking up stuff for Kalos is tough. :(
lmao tell the bmw fool to get us other aftermarket options and ill glady get rid of the beloved halo's :P
there are a couple of non bmws that employ those kind of headlights stock, and some of the bmw's do not even have them #-o
he was trying to talk me out of them, saying they would look stupid on the Aveo. But Ive seen some on here, and they look good. AND its even on the 2012 concept RS, so it can't look too bad, huh?
I ignored his views, because he is just a huge BMW'er ...... wants the options they have to be solely theirs. dumb. (little side note....he purchased floor mats "specifically designed" for his model BWM for $100 EACH!)
anyways, I think I'm going to attempt the headlight baking, and if it turns out bad, I'll slurge for the halos.

took the first gen aveo about 4 years or so, and there is not much of a selection #-o
Hunter, when you get a chance, look at the back of your halo headlights... they have like 4 or 5 breathers each... not very well covered either. As opposed to 2 well designed breathers on a stock light. That is quite "humidity succeptible" IMO. I personally went away with the halos and went with OEM style lights, so my signature is outdated. I will be updating it soon though once I'm done with the rest of the mods...Quote:

I like your car I only wish mine looked that good I like Kalos better than Aveo but Chevrolet wouldn't name it because they thought the name sounded stupid and no one would buy it. Good luck and hopefully you will have many great years with it.

you would be surprised how much research goes into names of cars. but the names still sound stupid.
they typically cross reference the name between common spoken language meanings and slangs in a given country. But in the US there is a wide range of languages used, so the names tend to be slightly different than the rest of the world. but they also dispute of common market shared names, like 1990 swift gti needed to become just gt, becuase vw "owned" gti..
I think Kalos would have done fine, because afterall, if you do a little research you'll find that it means beautiful in Greek. Aveo on the other hand.....means nothing, lol, or so I have found.
Speaking of stupid car names.....I'm in the medical field and it BUGS THE **** OUT OF ME when I see a Sonoma (cant remember the maker of the truck)....why the hell would you want to purchase a vehicle that translates to "Sound Tumor".... I cringe everytime I see one and go on a little rant. My boyfriend thinks its hilarious. :)
Then you should go with Barina. I think Holden sounds better than Chevrolet anyways... And I like their logo better. 8)
The sonoma is made by GMC it is the twin of the Chevrolet S10 Both are the same inside and out now they are called the Canyon and Colorado.Quote:
