Ok, all just wanted to post pics of the 83 Mercedes 300D that I bought awhile ago. I drive it sometimes just to bomb around in. Its a 5 cylinder turbo diesel with 282,636 miles on it.

5 cyl
damn, nice. I LOVE the old mercedes, but the parts and service on the things are just too much.
You'd actually be suprised at how inexpensive these cars are to repair and how very simple in design they are. Its the newer Mercedes that are super expensive maintenance wise and need to go to the dealer.Quote:

The 240D is a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder, the 300D is a 3.0 liter 5 cylinder. 240D's are non turbo and the 300's are.Quote:

hummers have 5cys too, my dads does i think its an 06
I think it's gorgeous.
Lots of Volvos have 5 cylinders also... the S40 comes to mind. The Chevrolet Colorado/ GMC Canyon and Hummer H3 have them too.
The car looks great for that age and mileage. I've been looking for a similar Benz or late 80's BMW to work on as a project.
