I guess I should include a pic of my own Aveo. Here's my new '08 Aveo5 SV:
Me thinks you been smoking the Metro too long.
I'm not fond of it. But whatever floats your boat.
Yes, well I have to admit that is somewhat true. This concept wasn't intended to look anything like a Metro, but as a longtime Metro enthusiast being new to the Aveo crowd, it has been an influence.
Just an interesting idea!
I don't care for convertibles, but it does look kinda cute
Does the car come with a pink BOA and a rainbow sticker on the rear deck lid?Quote:

At least it doesn't look as bad as a PT Cruiser convertible...
though i have to say I probably wouldn't want one myself.
Oh well. Good try though. A new idea worth trying.
maybe if there were rollbars it would look better
it looks like a metro that way!!
Aveos look alot like Metros to begin with. After all, the Aveo was a direct replacement for GM's Suzuki-built sub-compact.
Dont EVER do that again....lol...
why not do a cabriolet type back end where it still "appears" lie a hatchback?Quote:

Right, but the metro did not grow into the aveo. The aveo came from the lanos, the lanos came from the pontiac le mons. The similarities between the lanos and le mans are greater than the lanos and the aveo. Suspension setup is a LOT different in the aveo, so is the entire chassis and top half of the engine. I don't think many changes have been made in the block between the le mans and the aveo.Quote:

And yes, the Aveo and the Metro have absolutely nothing in common, I was just saying that the Aveo is basically what filled the gap in Chevy's lineup that the Metro left when it was eliminated.
wait... the Lanos came from a Pontiac LeMans?
i would buy a convertible aveo in a heartbeat
i kinda like it too if they would round out the rear portion of the car

My idea for a convertible. Targa bar, tilted windshield about 3 degrees, toneau cover on back (sp?)
=P~ I appreciate the efforts taken by "MetroAveo" & "Cyber3d" to make an Aveo convertible! You both did a fantastic job!
i like the addition of a targa bar. is that for structural as well or looks?
Nice! That looks alot cooler than the one I made! Though I'd like it better if it was a 2-door...
I wonder if it would be possible to pull off a conversion from a hatchback to a vert. It would involve chopping the top, adding structural support to the frame, finding a top frame that would fit, as well as weatherseals that wouldn't leak. Also the trunk would need to open differently. Probably too much to actually be worth it... but who knows, people have done amazing things with their Aveos so far, maybe this won't be far down the road.
I'm sure a Targa bar would have to be functional. IMO, what make this design work is the angle change of the windshield. It moves it away from the Metro look.

I wonder if they take requests...?
I just heard that plans for the new Camaro and Challenger convertibles were scrapped because of the big three's money woes. Man, I was looking forward to seeing those.

Have you read this whole thread? We've had multiple people make that observation...
not that there's anything wrong with that...
I'd say that with the targa bar on top, it looks more like a VW Cabriolet.
lol sweet...

The pic look a little better. Maybe you should try making a pic from the Aveo sedan body. I think that would look more like a convertible.
i like it. wat better than the pt cruiser drop tops
Thanks!Quote:
