      Possibly so, but more caused by rain water the drips in from the back of the hood, up near the cowl. I noticed the connector does get moist during the rainy season, have to climb on your head with a flashlight to see it though.

      Can you put tape or heat shrink over it to help protect it ?

      I don't think so, might be a temporary patch at best. The best thing I found was to clean it, then pack it with dielectric grease real good. It's going to get wet no matter what one does, best thing is to seal it up so it stays dry and clean. If you never see the U0100 code then I wouldn't worry about it too much.
