well welcome back lol
Yah, it's been sometime since I've been on. With spring a coming the projects will start up once more.
I added a pair of 240 watt. speakers in the hatch cover and also the new head unit. I will have to add those pics.
Attachment 4010Here's a pic of how the speakers look after I had mounted them into the hatch cover.
That looks really nice. How much work was involved in doing that? What keeps them in place, wiring, etc>?
I'll take a few pics of how they look from behind so you can see how they are attached. The pics I had did not turn out all that clear.
Today I was loading some things into the hatch and thought of your speakers once again. When/if you do take pictures, I would like to see them back in the car. Does the weight of the speakers prevent that hatch cover from lifting as you pull up on the hatch?
No not at all.
I also have the speaker wires connected with plugs, so if I need to remove the cover its no issue.
great line up of pics. thanks for sharing the post
That sounds cool. Can't wait to see them. I've always been very annoyed by that hatch cover thingy in every vehicle i've ever owned and i've never seen someone put speakers into it before. Are there any drawbacks or negatives to having them in the hatch cover? Speaker rattle or anything that you've noticed since you switched versus having them in the stock location?
The stock location is too small to fit any speakers with power or good sound. I tried upgrading the factory ones with little improvement.
These new speaker are 6 ½ inch three-way giving me a great sound and the shape of the hatch deflects the sound really nicely.
It doesn’t rattle any more then it did before, I even think it rattles less, because of the weight. I did add some padding to where the cover rests on the plastic molding.
