update of my lights. aka problem solved.
if you recently read, my lights have been giving me trouble. so i bought HID and solved that ****. also i got new housings that are black instead of chrome. it lessens the amount of reflect, but i think its great since my lights are too bright for others. also instad of waiting for eyelids to come out i decided to use carbon fiber adhesive and make my own. it looks pretty decent actually. dont mid the glare in the pics, its just the camera and stuff. and last but not least, i added my own light install. i put extra driving lights under the grill instead of the actual fog light housings because my goat takes up one of those spots. but enough talk here are some pics.
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
looks great, how did you change you gauge colors ( a write up with pics would be awesome) i wana do mine in blue
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
There's a write-up on that somewhere here, or maybe it was on the old forum.
Here it is: http://aveoclub.proboards26.com/index.c ... hread=1389
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
another layer of vinyl and pull it tighter over the top so u dont have those lil wrinkles.
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
Nice!
I really like the gauge colors!!
the eyelids look good. It really is hard to keep the wrinkles out, when I did the second layer on mine I lost patience and ended up with a buncha wrinkles.
Next time you take pictures of the lights at night, try the red eye reduction setting on the camera. I have a crappy camera but doing that seems to keep the glare down.
Great job!
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
If you are gonna run HIDs. Disconnect the DRLs if you have not already. It will kill them if you dont.
And aim your headlamps down. You can see in the pictures that you are gonna blind the **** outta people.

Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
ok ok i have been off for a while due to 1 reason. i moved and have no internet connection. im lucky i have it now bnut its only because im borrowing someones laptop. the deaql is this>
my
aveo
is
dead.
i got into an accident this morning around 1:37 where i jumped the curb and flew into a ditch and stuck straight into a concrete pipe. i am fine, but my ride is not. i have front end damage which sums it up best. the engine bay is pushed back towards the passanger compartment. my front tired are blown and the rims are bent. and my frame is dented upward at my driver door which has a nice dent in it to. my ride is undriveable and im waiting to see what insurance will do with it.
wanna know why this happened? because i coyote jumped infront of my car and i tried to avoid it. thus me ending up into the ditch due to a horrible skid.
i wont be on for a while, but whatever....its not like i have an aveo anymore
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
That is why I dont swerve for animals. I will plow into bambi and risk my front end before I swerve and endanger my entire car and myself.
Sucks to hear
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
hey melficersx,
thats friggin horrible!! sorry about your car after all that good work you put into it!! anyway, hope your insurance company gives you what you want for it, you get a new aveo to show off, and you return quickly!!
take care bro!!
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
Damn.
Glad to her you are ok. Could have been a lot worse. did the airbags deploy?
you are one lucky mother *****!
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
Oh no, mel, I'm so sorry. But I am very glad you're ok, that's what counts.
Never swerve to avoid an animal. It sounds cruel, but it's true. Within a year of moving out here, we hit a deer in my month old Neon. $3500 damage. If we would have swerved we would have hit head on traffic.
Remember this; if you hit the animal, it's comprehensive damage and (usually) doesn't count against you.
If you swerve and hit something else, it's considered a true accident, and counts against you.
Again, I'm very glad you're ok.
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
bummers. see ya soon (hopefully)!
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
im stealing someones internet connection, but they dont know so its ok.
thanks for the comments. yeah i know i should have hit the animal, but i just cant. im no animal rights activist or anything, i just cant see myself murdering an animal even though it was stupid enough to run into my path. insurance said they would take a look at it and see if its repairable or totaled. they should contact me soon. i should start looking for beaters in my area because i've been bumming rides to work, not to mention that i took two days off for depression. ah well, im better and im having high hopes. hopefully i can score an 04 hatch somewhere.
Re: update of my lights. aka problem solved.
never swerve, now its your fault, trust me ive been in bodyshops for 25 years, some insurance companies will screw you
