Where i'm at with the car now

I finally finished putting in my switch to control the LEDs in the headlights:

Now a shot of the switch and also a little something I did for the radar detector:

I was tired of having the detector cord dangling in front of my headunit so while I had the center console apart, I improvised and circle filed it down just a tad to let the cord in. I chose to put the switch in that location because it was convenient with plenty of space behind it. I tried 3 other locations, but always ran into snags. I was going to put it besides the dimmer switch on the left hand side of the steering wheel, but I could not get the empty space beside the dimmer out of the dash. I was also going to use the little piece that pops out right above the ash tray, but there was not enough space behind it to allow the switch to fit.

Next step is to paint the hood black going through the front bumper. Then will be sideskirts with the exhaust coming out of them. I also want to upgrade my stock speakers and install an amp.

Thanks for the comments. It's nowhere near completion. I'm saving up for the next round of mods. I want to add sideskirts, but i'm unsure how it will look if I don't add an aftermarket rear bumper and some kind of lip kit with it. I don't want it to look too low on the sides and then high in the front and rear. I love the stock look of the front bumper and I don't care for any aftermarket rear bumpers as of now.

Seeing that detector cords get stressed and eventually need replacement, this doesn't make the replacement any easier. Personally I don't like the idea of mounting a detector in on the windshield glass. Why not simply mount it on the dash? It's easier to remove, and doesn't involve suction cups or a dangling cord.

I thought of fabricating something so that it holds the detector high enough on the dash to be effective, but then got lazy and gave up on it. Still might give it another go because when I have it parked at work, the detector just sits on the dash with nowhere to hide it. So if I could come up with some kind of tower/box thingy to hold it and then store it hidden when it's not in use. But I don't want it to look bulky or stupid. I have to brainstorm some ideas.

Most people don't realize it, but the detector will still work just as effectively when mounted atop the dash. In other words it doesn't need to be mounted with a full view of the road. What I did at first with mine was was to use velcro with the soft strip glued to the dash and the other mating velcro strip glued on the underside of the detector. However, I found that if you hit a severe bump in the road sometimes the detector might go flying.

My revised version for dash mounting it uses two of the 3M strips that have a plastic hook & loop design that are used to mount an EZ-Pass transponder to the windshield. THAT really holds it in place! And it's very easy to remove it and stash in the glove box so it doesn't get stolen. The cord can plug in the cigar lighter - just tie shorten it a bit so it is the appropriate length (or use your existing curly cord).

Sounds cool, but I was thinking more of incorporating that piece of the dash that currently has the clock and passenger airbag lights. I can't stand the way that clock looks, so if I can come up with something that gets rid of that clock and houses my radar detector, then double score!!
