most of the parts we do is for the 1.6's 'big brother' (the 2.0) so I don't have a complete motor, I do have a 1.6 head however so I'll take some pics and post them.

glad you guys like the pics.
yes you can use a header from another car but look for one with primaries from 1.625"(41mm) to 1.75"(44-44.5mm) for the best fit. the only this that you really have to work around is the oil filter so it you choose a header make sure it doesn't kick to the right.
So if the EGR valve is blocked off, wouldn't the ECU freak out and keep throwing codes? Just asking out of curiosity because my knowledge of this system is very limited.

Yes the ECU would throw a code with the EGR blocked off. In fact, EGR is not bad for performance. It gives you better gas mileage at part throttle (i.e. cruise) operation and it is not used at WOT, only at idle and a part throttle.Originally Posted by serega12

that flange appeared to have the egr passage cut into it?
but the link to his website no longer works. If i recall (last time i bought a flange) it was about $100. So if you bought one, and then even bout a $50 civic header off ebay, and then paid for cutting realignment of the tubes, and having the header put on, PLUS having the the other end matched to fit the aveo, you are well above the $329? Xiogary charges for a used/rebuild header when he has them, that just bolts in.
Not that i am pushing his products, but looking for cheaper solutions means being able to do it yourself most of the time.
You have a very good point. The only option I would consider before xiaogary's header would be a so called "test-pipe" to try it out, since it's only $50 made by a local muffler shop as opposing to $329 or $369. But other than that - I totally agree with you - xiaogary's header (even new) is the best thing to go so far for us. I understand that the test pipe woouldn't give me all the hp that xiaogary's header would, but it would be definitely less restrictive than the oem cat, am I correct? Do I have the right idea?Originally Posted by petrified.rabbit

I learned that last night. I did what I should have done before posting - used the neat "search" button at the top of the page and looked up everything I could find on EGR, and from what it sounds like it's actually a good idea to keep it open. The only thing I was going off is someone's theory that hot air in the engine is always a bad thing because it doesn't have that much oxygen. In his explanation hot air=less oxygen=less hp=poor mpg. After reading through threads last night I'm pretty convinced that EGR should stay the way it is. He was actually trying to tell me that the gas mileage is worse at cruise speeds on the highway because it's open. Sounds like it's the opposite. I'm not trying to bring in any false info into the discussion, I'm just letting you know the info that I had to go off of before I got to here. Thank you all for the good info.Originally Posted by ontarian_frog
